Persian Gulf Power Plant
The Persian Gulf Gas Power Plant is located 45 kilometers northeast of Bandar Abbas, in the Qaleh Qazi region, covering an area of approximately 1,065,000 square meters. The plant consists of six GT13E2 gas turbine units manufactured by Alstom, introduced for the first time within Iran’s Ministry of Energy.
Each unit has a nominal capacity of 165 MW, contributing a total of approximately 990 MW of electricity to Iran’s national power grid. Each turbine unit includes a compressor, a combustion chamber, and a gas turbine, all connected through a single axial shaft and coupled to a synchronous generator. The temperature of the gas entering the turbine from the combustion chamber is approximately 1,100°C, while the exhaust gas temperature is around 550°C.
The plant operates using natural gas and diesel fuel, with natural gas serving as the primary fuel and diesel as the backup fuel. The required natural gas is supplied through a 16‑inch pipeline connected to the Sarkhun Gas Refinery. At base load, the gas consumption of each unit is approximately 45,000 cubic meters per hour.
