According to the Public Relations Office of Persian Gulf Power Generation Company, Dr. Dirbaz, accompanied by Eng. Morteza Bastin, Plant Manager, and several senior managers, met with technical and administrative staff. During these meetings, he congratulated employees on the New Year, expressed appreciation for their continuous efforts over the past year, and wished them and their families health and success in the year ahead.
He praised the dedication of the workforce during the challenging circumstances facing the country and emphasized that the commitment and presence of employees under such conditions demonstrate their strong sense of responsibility toward national service and the stability of the country’s energy supply.
Dr. Dirbaz also expressed particular appreciation for the personnel of the security, operations, technical support, and safety departments who have remained fully committed to maintaining the plant’s operations and ensuring the continuity of electricity generation.
He stated that while the country’s armed forces are defending national security, the personnel of the Persian Gulf Power Plant play a vital role by ensuring a reliable supply of electricity for citizens. According to him, the dedication of the plant’s workforce demonstrates their commitment to supporting the nation and maintaining critical infrastructure.
The CEO emphasized that the public can remain confident that the management and staff of the Persian Gulf Gas Power Plant will continue to make every possible effort to ensure stable electricity production. He also noted that despite ongoing challenges, the unity and resilience of the Iranian people and the continuous service provided by various sectors reflect the nation’s determination to maintain stability and serve the public.
Preparation for the Summer Peak
During the visit, Dr. Dirbaz stressed the importance of preparing for the upcoming summer peak demand period. He noted that ensuring reliable and stable electricity supply for industrial, residential, and other consumers requires coordinated efforts from all employees.
He highlighted the need to strengthen the infrastructure required for sustainable development and social welfare by maintaining reliable energy supply across the country.
Review of Maintenance and Operational Readiness
During the visit, Dr. Dirbaz and Plant Manager Eng. Morteza Bastin reviewed the latest status of the major overhaul of Unit 6 and evaluated the readiness of the plant’s generating units to meet the electricity demand during the summer peak of 2026.
Dr. Dirbaz emphasized that protecting and maintaining skilled human resources is essential for the long-term sustainability of power plant operations. He noted that even the most advanced equipment cannot function effectively without experienced specialists to operate and maintain it. Therefore, safeguarding the health, safety, and professional development of employees remains a critical priority.
He also thanked the dedicated and skilled staff of the Persian Gulf Power Plant and assured them that the management team will continue to take every necessary measure to improve workplace conditions, protect personnel safety, and support employees’ professional and welfare needs.
Importance of Preventive Maintenance
The CEO noted that annual maintenance programs are an essential component of preventive maintenance strategies. These activities are designed to evaluate equipment conditions, reduce operational costs, extend the useful life of equipment, maintain optimal operational performance, increase system reliability, and minimize unplanned outages.
He expressed optimism that once the overhaul of the plant’s units is completed, the facility will be fully prepared to operate at maximum capacity during the upcoming summer peak. He also encouraged the public to continue practicing responsible electricity consumption.
Plant Performance and Achievements
During the visit, Eng. Morteza Bastin, Plant Manager, presented a report on the plant’s operational performance. He noted that improving efficiency and increasing power generation are among the main objectives of the overhaul program.
He added that following major maintenance activities and inspections, the plant’s gas units are now in optimal condition to connect to the national grid. The power upgrade program for the gas units has also begun, and the plant’s technical teams are working to ensure that all units operate at full capacity during the upcoming summer peak.
Eng. Bastin also highlighted the plant’s strong performance in the previous year. Despite several major and intermediate maintenance operations and numerous inspections, the plant successfully generated 5,034,123 MWh of electricity during 2025. This achievement placed the plant first in Hormozgan Province in terms of electricity generation and represents another milestone in the plant’s operational record.
HSE, Crisis Management, and Passive Defense Meeting
As part of the visit, a specialized meeting on HSE, crisis management, and passive defense was held at the plant’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Dr. Dirbaz.
During the session, participants reviewed various operational scenarios related to potential threats and discussed the localization and implementation of passive defense guidelines within the power plant. The meeting also addressed current programs, challenges, and strategies aimed at improving coordination among departments in the areas of HSE, crisis management, and passive defense.
Dr. Dirbaz emphasized the importance of strengthening organizational preparedness, updating crisis response plans, enhancing the resilience of critical infrastructure, and improving cooperation between operational units.
The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between technical departments and rapid response teams—including safety, firefighting, and security units—facilitate the exchange of operational experiences, and develop a coordinated roadmap for responding effectively to potential incidents and threats.
At the conclusion of the meeting, it was agreed that the decisions made would be followed up and implemented at the operational level.
Dr. Dirbaz concluded by noting that improving coordination among departments, enhancing emergency management capabilities, strengthening technical knowledge of operational tools, and increasing personnel confidence in crisis situations are essential elements of effective crisis management.
He added that achieving higher levels of readiness, reducing response time, and minimizing operational costs during emergency situations require continuous training, practice, and comprehensive planning.
